WEKEZA Child Generation Organization (WEKEZA) is a local NGO based in Mwanza, Tanzania, established in 2012 and registered under NGOs Act No. 24, 2002 (amended 2005) with registration number OONGO/0009410.
The name “WEKEZA” means “Invest” in Swahili, reflecting our mission to invest in children and youth for sustainable development by promoting child rights, education, WASH, SRHR, and protection.
We work with communities, stakeholders, duty bearers, and right holders to create a friendly environment that supports child education, nutrition, information technology, civic education, sexual and reproductive health rights, child protection, and child rights governance.
Our organization focuses on awareness raising, advocacy, capacity building, and youth socio-economic empowerment to ensure that all child rights and youth development policies are promoted and protected for sustainable change in Tanzania.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
We promote WASH programs to improve children's lives and community well-being, aiming for sustainable development in schools and health facilities.
Child Rights Awareness
We raise awareness among children, parents, and communities about child rights, protection, and governance to end trafficking, labor, and violence against children.
Youth Sexual Reproductive Health Rights
We educate youth on sexual and reproductive health to reduce early pregnancy and empower them to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures.
Child Rights Governance
We advocate for policy reforms and implement child-friendly laws that protect children’s rights at both local and national levels.
Humanitarian Support for Children with Disabilities
We provide humanitarian aid and rehabilitation support to children with disabilities to ensure they live with dignity and access basic needs.
Intercultural Youth & Volunteer Exchange
We foster understanding and collaboration between cultures through volunteer programs and knowledge exchange initiatives focused on child rights and development.
Key Project Achievements
Explore some of our most impactful initiatives that have made a real difference in the lives of children and youth across Mwanza, Tanzania.
Educational Supports for Vulnerable Children
In 2020, we supported 100 vulnerable children (48 boys and 52 girls) in Sangabuye Village, Ilemela District, with school uniforms and exercise books, enabling them to enroll in schools during the pandemic.
Empowering Children with Early Childhood Development Skills
We launched the Saturday Kids Outreach Program to teach basic life skills, build self-esteem, and empower children to reach their full potential through courage and confidence.
Supporting Health Needs of Children
In 2019, over 300 children at Watoto wa Africa Orphanage Centre received food, drinks, mosquito nets, and hygiene education to improve health and school attendance.
Empowering Children Living with Albinism
We spent time with 43 children with albinism at Buhangija Orphanage Center, providing sunscreen, clothes, and support to protect them from harsh sunlight.
Child Participation in Advocating Their Rights
Executive Director Mr. Elisha David held meetings with students to share life skills and raise awareness about sexual exploitation and abuse affecting adolescent girls.
Promoting Hygiene and Handwashing Campaigns
We conducted handwashing campaigns in schools to protect children from diseases like coronavirus and promote better hygiene practices among students and parents.
Youth Entrepreneurship Training
We trained youth aged 12–22 in entrepreneurship skills in Nyamagana District, empowering them to start small businesses and become self-reliant.
Environmental Conservation Awareness
We empowered students, teachers, and parents in April 2020 on environmental conservation practices to promote sustainable development and community resilience.
